The Erasmus Student Network or ESN as it’s also known, has set itself some important goals in student life, since it was founded in 1991. Firstly: to represent international students. Secondly: to promote cultural knowledge and self-development. And last but not least: to organise fun and memorable activities!
The ESN is mainly known for its buddy project. Every semester they match an Erasmus student with a local student. They do this to provide support to Erasmus students during their time in Antwerp but also to ensure that more students spend part of their university career in another country.
A recurring event for ESN students is Ice Breaking Week at the beginning of the academic year. The ESN breaks the ice between students with an eight-day event, full of fun activities, such as a pub crawl, a city rally, beer bowling, and so much more. They are already looking forward to the next Ice Breaking Week in September.
The ESN’s various parties, cultural excursions and city trips that it organises for its members are also very well-known.
If you want to find ESN members, then head to Café De Prof. This cosy hangout is quite famous in the ESN community. In fact, it’s so famous that when an Erasmus student was asked what her favourite place in Antwerp was during the StuDay bingo, she replied “De Prof!”!
