AntwerpMUN, which was founded in 2012, is all about the United Nations. During their main event each year, they organise a simulation of the assemblies of the United Nations (‘Model United Nations’) at the University of Antwerp. They also host various lectures and events on networking and negotiations. As such, they hope to help students hone their skills in an entertaining way, teach them to expand their social network, grow their ambitions and broaden their horizon. AntwerpMUN is a great choice for students with a keen interest in diplomacy, law, economics, and international politics.
If you want to get to know AntwerpMUN members better, you need to find them first, of course. They regularly try to find new places to meet up and have fun. This can be the kot of one of the members or one of the many nice and cosy places in Antwerp. You will also run into them at one of the university’s many large-scale events, such as Students on Stage, Kerst op UA…
They sometimes attract men in their 30s and 40s who feel nostalgic about their university days… Yes, that’s right! If you’re interested to find out more about the members of AntwerpMUN, then watch this video.
While coronavirus interfered with many of AntwerpMUN’s plans, they are trying to come up with some smart solutions where they can. They made the information that students would have gotten during their networking event available to everyone and are also working on a video on this topic. They also recorded this video as a mark of support to all the students during this difficult period. Together against corona!
The club is also working hard on the programme for the next academic year, which kicks off with Students on Stage, followed by the ambassador dinners, networking events, talks by diplomats, lawyers, economists and politicians and their annual ball. You can also find them at Kerst op de UA. They organise their annual four-day simulation during the second half of the academic year.
